Wow...I’ve run a Half Marathon! - How good does it feel!!
I certainly didn’t set any speed records but what a day! I was lucky enough to have Helen, one of my
coaches, run just over half the race with me, we picked up Fiona (another of my coaches) with her fantastic CanToo
balloon and tutu at Circular Quay. Craig, Anthony and Mum were about 100m from the finish. As we crossed the line
they announced who I was and the crowd went up in a HUGE cheer – how do you beat that for a mornings adventure!!
It will be days, maybe weeks before the smile goes!!
Some highlights:
- Finishing in 3 hours 22 minutes – faster than I had planned!
- The huge smiles on Craig and Mum’s faces when we came around the bend on the way to the finish!
- Running (at my pace) the whole way!
- Kurt Fearnley wizzing past on his way to win the Marathon (Wheelchair) race - what an amazing Athlete!
For the Sydney Running Festival the CanToo Team have raised just over $300,000 – funding 4 Cancer Researchers.
If you didn't get the chance to sponsor me this time around...The next one is just around the corner...
The race may now have been run...but for me it's back to the gym! There is a lot to do over summer before
team training starts in February for the SMH Half Marathon on 18 May 2008. Now I know I can finish a Half Marathon, the
new goal is to finish the next one in under 3 hours!!

See you at the finish line...
